Jr Ferguson, One of the Best Defensive Ends for 2010

At 6'3" 270lbs and with 4.9 speed, Jr Ferguson is rated the 3rd best defensive end in the country for the 2010 recruiting class. He has yet to name a set number of favorites schools and has offers from all over the country including Georgia, Penn State, Oklahoma, Miami, Notre Dame, USC, Florida State and California. Look for this member of the Rivals 100 to be aggressively recruited up until he makes a college selection.

Film: JR ‘Ego’ Ferguson Discusses High School and College Preparation

By Steve Patterson

When he found out that he was rated the 14th best player in the country by Rivals for 2010, Jr Ferguson felt honored. "I felt like it was a great honor to be recognize as one of the top players in the country.  Having said that I don't think its where you play or who you play, if you can play scouts will find you." He explained to us recently.

No Favorites

And now with over 22 scholarship offers from many of the top college programs in the country he can take his time and select the best situation for him and his future. "Right now I do not have any favorite colleges." he reported to us about the progress of his recruitment.

High School Career

Ferguson played a little running back and tight end in high school for Frederick Maryland St. John's Catholic. On the offensive side of the ball the past two seasons he ran for 192 and 10 touchdowns. An additional 238 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns were also a part of his sophomore and juniors seasons. But he excelled on the defensive side of the ball with 203 tackles and 32 sacks over the past couple of years. He projects as a strong-side defensive end at the next level.

Offer List

If you make anything out of which schools get named first being the most important to a high school recruit, Ferguson names Virginia and Miami before all the other offers that he currently holds. "Right now but the schools that have visited my school are Virginia, Miami, Florida State, West Virginia, LSU, Cal, UCLA, Oklahoma, Rutgers, U Conn, NC state, North Carolina, South Carolina, Syracuse, Georgia Tennessee, Boston College, Notre Dame, ECU, Kansas State, Louisville, Ohio State, Michigan, and a couple more I cant think of off the top of my head."
